LED Optical Materials

What are LED optical materials?

LED optical materials are materials that help you to enhance the performance and durability of your LED lighting assemblies. Universal Science provides solutions for both light shaping and LED protection. In terms of light shaping, LED optical materials are films or foils that are designed to shape the light that is emitted from a LED assembly. The light can be shaped by diffusion, reflection or incidence by creating beam angles. Light shaping diffusers can manipulate the light by changing the direction of the beam. The user can therefore create cleaner lighting applications and shape a light beam to suit a particular purpose.

For LED protection, we will improve the life of your lighting design. Factors such as moisture and dust can damage your LEDs and cause heat to build up or affect the brightness. You can protect your LEDs with optical plastic sheet materials. These will act as a seal against chemicals, moisture and dust.

How do LED optical materials work?

In terms of light shaping, the light shaping diffusers are embedded on a substrate and will manipulate light by changing the direction of the beam. This allows the user to create cleaner lighting applications and shape the light beam for a particular purpose. For LED protection, the material will act as a seal to stop anything getting into the LED assembly that may cause damage.
